LAS VEGAS -- Celebrating the 25th anniversary of its pharmacy network Good Neighbor Pharmacy at its July trade show, AmerisourceBergen officially rolled out a new pharmacy platform called Independent Edge that has been designed to improve community pharmacy performance across three core metrics--revenue and profit, improved patient care capability and increased operations efficiency.

Burnett, a former U.S. Navy Corpsman who graduated first in his class at the Naval Hospital Corps School in San Diego, began his career in pharmacy after being honorably discharged in 1955. After graduation from the University of Arizona school of pharmacy and stints with several independent and hospital pharmacies, he joined Fed Mart Corp. as a staff pharmacist, working his way up to regional supervisor.
During his tenure at Fed Mart, Burnett also earned a law degree from the University of San Diego in 1970. After a brief stint at practicing law, he became Fed Mart's vice president and general manager of phar macy, leading the growth of pharmacy at the chain to a 75-unit, high-volume operation that pioneered value-priced pharmaceuticals. He also founded his own independent chain, Save Mart.

New convenience for patient. New profits for pharmacy.
Rx.com now offers retail pharmacy the opportunity to compete with mandatory mail programs and, most importantly, to do it profitably. Available to all 10,000 pharmacies who use the PDX Pharmacy System, the Rx.com solution is now set to be rolled out by 15 pharmacy chains representing approximately 4,000 chain drug and supermarket pharmacies across the U.S.
An important benefit these pharmacies will reap is the retention of their personal relationships with their patients. Patients benefit, too, by gaining the choice of mail order while retaining the ability to speak directly to their pharmacist, get counseling, find out about drug interactions and get any questions about dosages--or anything else--answered by someone who knows them and their prescription history.
